acquired company in 2005) Virginia Beach, VA – May 1997 – Present
Responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining the ISP's
Linux workstations and servers including Apache WEB servers. Monitor
and perform kernel upgrades and hardware upgrades. Schedule
installations, upgrades and maintenance. Ensure data/media
recoverability by coordinating a schedule of system backups and
database archive operations. Monitor all activities and services of
the network. Ensure High Availability on the Network. Secure servers
and routers against DENIAL OF SERVICE attacks or hacking attempts.
Arrange for necessary corrective actions to ensure high quality
transmission on the network. Test and analyze elements of the network
facilities (software, lines, routers and terminals). Answer escalated
second level technical support e-mails and phone calls from clients.
Program shell-based applications and menus for quick and easy
administration for staff.

Responsible for provisioning, installation, configuration of new Dell
laptops to resell to Purchasing clients.  Duties include security
updates, customization of Gnome desktop, Customization of packages as
requested by customer, grub boot loader splash image Installation.
Customer support and Technical support escalation issues for clients.
Also performed optional dual-boot partitioning for clients who
requested Vista and Linux dual boot laptops.
